'Surviving Mumbai', 'Hotel Mumbai' recounts the terrorist attacks on the Taj Mahal Hotel on 26th November 2008. this film debutant director Anthony Maras recreates the horrific carnage witnessed inside the corridors of the Taj. For any Mumbaiker, the chilling memories of 26/11 are still fresh, and definitely, most traumatic for the one’s who survived by a whisker, lost their close ones or saw the attacks unfold at close quarters.

Despite being a morally grey zone, recreation of a terrorist attack is not new territory for international cinema. 'Munich' by Steven Speilberg and 'United 93' by Paul Greengrass have ventured here. And as compelling as the storytelling may be, it still remains a difficult watch owing to the grief, anger and irreparable loss attached to the events.

As indicated by Anthony Maras in his interviews, so as to respect the privacy of the actual persons, the characters of the film are fictionalized, inspired by real life people, except for Chef Hemant Oberoi (Anupam Kher). Dev Patel plays Arjun, a waiter at the hotel, who happened to be around that night, despite being told by a strict Chef Oberoi to return home on account of turning up in the wrong footwear to work. With a pregnant wife and a toddler back home, Arjun begs to stay back since he needs the shift, not knowing what awaits him later in the evening. David Duncan and Zahra (Armie Hammer and Nazanin Boniadi) have just arrived at the hotel with their baby. When the terrorist attack at the hotel begins - they are dining downstairs and their child is in the suite upstairs with the nanny (Tilda Cohham – Hervey).

The scenes from inside the Taj as the ghastly events unfold bit by bit, are gut-wrenching. And not for a moment can one breathe easy, feeling as claustrophobic and knotted up as the characters. Every turn in the corridors that the residents make, as they try to flee or hide, makes you queasy. One wrong turn could mean death. Even as a viewer, the sound of the gun shots are haunting.

So are the scenes that lead up to this. The ease with which the group of terrorists arrive on the shores of the city and mingle into the crowd, hailing cabs like locals, will send a shiver down your spine. As will their handlers voice that can be heard on their headphones, giving them directions and keeping them motivated. I'm not going to tell you more about the story. ඇත්තම කතාවක් කියන්නයි මේ යන්නේ…මේ කතාව පටන්ගන්නේ 2018 නොවැම්බර් 28 වෙනිදා…එදා පුද්ගලයින් 166 කට මරු කැඳවමින් ඉන්දියාවේ මුම්බායි නගරයේ ප්‍රසිද්ධ ස්ථාන කිහිපයකටම ත්‍රස්ත ප්‍රහාර මාලාවක් එල්ල වෙනවා. ප්‍රහාරයට සම්භන්ධ ත්‍රස්තවාදීන් 10 දෙනෙක් අතරින් 9 දෙනක් දෙනෙකුත් මියයනවා ඒ වගේම පොලිස් රථයකට එල්ල වෙන ප්‍රහාරයකින් රථයේ ඉඳපු පොලිස් නිළදාරීන් හත් දෙනෙක් අතරින් 6 දෙනෙක් මියයනවා. ඒ අතරින් Arun Jadhav කියලා එකම එක පොලිස් නිළධාරියෙකුට විතරයි ජීවිතේ බේරගන්න පුළුවන් වෙන්නේ.

දිවි බේරාගත් Arun Jadhav නිළධාරියා (Survivor Arun jadhav officer) චිත්‍රපටයෙන් ප්‍රධාන වශයෙන්ම නිරූපණය වෙන්නේ ටාජ් පැලස් හෝටලයට එල්ල වුණු ප්‍රහාරය ගැන..මේ හෝටලය ඇතුලට එන ත්‍රස්තවාදීන් නිරායුධ මිනිසුන් රිසි සේ ඝාතනය කරනවා. මේ හෝටලයට නිතරම යන්නේ එන්නෙත් ප්‍රභූවරු වගේම විදෙස් රටවල ලොකු ලොකු උදවිය. ඉතින් ප්‍රහාරය එල්ල වෙන වෙලාවේ හෝටලය ඇතුලේ ඉඳපු අමුත්තන්ව හැකි සෑම අයුරකින්ම බේරගන්න උත්සහ කරන හෝටල් කාර්ය මණ්ඩලය ගැනත් බොහොම අපූරුවට කතාව තුලින් නිරූපණය කරලා තියෙනවා. ඒ වගේම මම නොකියපු ගොඩක් දේවල් චිත්‍රපටයේ පැය දෙකක් පුරාවට ඔයාලට බලන්න පුළුවන්.

மும்பையில் காமா மருத்துவமனை, ரயில் டெர்மினஸ், ஓபராய் ட்ரைடென்ட் ஹோட்டல், தாஜ்மஹால் பெலாஸ் ஹோட்டல், லியோபோல்ட் கபே, மும்பை சபாத் ஹவுஸ் போன்ற பல பொது இடங்கள் தாக்குதலுக்கு உள்ளாகியுள்ளன.

இது செப்டம்பர் 7, 2018 அன்று கனடாவில் நடந்த டொராண்டோ சர்வதேச திரைப்பட விழாவில் திரையிடப்பட்டது. ரூ .16.4 கோடியை வசூலித்து பாக்ஸ் ஆபிஸ் சாதனையையும் படைக்க முடிந்தது.இந்த படத்தை அந்தோணி மராஸ் இயக்கியுள்ளார், மேலும் நஜனின் பனியாடி மற்றும் தேவ் படேல் ஆகியோர் நடிக்கின்றனர்.

படம் முக்கியமாக தாஜ் பேலஸ் ஹோட்டல் மீதான தாக்குதலைக் கையாளுகிறது. ஹோட்டலுக்குள் நுழைந்த பயங்கரவாதிகள் ஆயுதமேந்திய மனிதர்களை விருப்பப்படி கொன்றுவிடுகிறார்கள். ஹோட்டல் ஊழியர்கள் தங்களை ஒரு அற்புதமான வழியில் காப்பாற்ற முயற்சிப்பதையும் கதை சித்தரிக்கிறது. மேலும், நீங்கள் நிறைய விஷயங்களைக் காணலாம் படத்தில் இரண்டு மணி நேரம் நான் சொல்லவில்லை.
